Treasure Seekers: Happiness

Many people search for happiness in a variety of activities, material objects, and in riches, but what does God say about attaining happiness?

Read: Proverbs 3:13-18

Take a moment to read these scriptures and focus in one verse 18 with me, "She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her;and HAPPY is every one that retaineth her."

The Lord is speaking to us about those who find wisdom and get understanding.

We know that wisdom comes from God, but how often are we actually seeking for His wisdom on a matter? Maybe you find yourself in a situation where you can't make heads or tails of a situation. I have been in those shoes before. That's when I am sure to have friends that are wiser than myself. It is very important that if we desire to walk closer to the Lord, that we find time to be with those wiser than us. Do you have a Pastor or his wife that you could go to? Maybe a deacon and his wife to glean knowledge from? Perhaps your parents are godly parents with wisdom that you could glean from.

When we read through the Bible we know that many of the people who lived before us had wisdom, yet some were foolish. We know that Solomon was known for wisdom, King David as a man after God's own heart, and Noah for his faith in God when building the ark. We then know about Lot's wife and her desire for the things of her world and she was cursed and became a pillar of salt, Delilah who was wicked as she sought to take down her own husband, or Judas who sold our Lord for 40 pieces of silver.

When you leave this earth, what will your children and grand children know about you? If someone was to write down the things they know about you, what would their list entail? Will they be able to say that you were wise and full of happiness? Or will they say that you were a grouchy ol' person who was miserable and full of complaints about life?

May we seek God's Wisdom daily and find our happiness and peace within His Word. How do you schedule time for God's Word? Do you have people wiser than you that you can go to for help? Are you truly happy?

Subject matter I've addressed many times both personally and with family as well as in ministry with others.

Good message.

Thank you Lisa. Everything I write comes from what God is speaking to me about personally. :O) Quite convicting as I become transparent in writing it in the blogosphere! We are admonished to confess our faults to one another and the Bible says that in regards to our relationship with the Lord, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!" I see that as we SHOULD be telling others how God is speaking to us. In doing so we make ourselves accountable to others as well as God.
