As I was enjoying a Bible study with some ladies, the Lord gave me the following illustration. We were discussing the Foundation. I was trying to explain how important their foundation is in Christ. We had discussed before about the song "The Wise Man Built His House Upon a Rock" When the storms come, if your foundation isn't set, the house will fall.

Psalm 127:1, "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."
Our 'house' is our life, if we fail to allow the Lord to build it, we build in vain. Many times Believers get caught up in the 'works' of Christianity and when the storms of life come, they falter. Don't get me wrong, doing things for the Lord are GOOD, but it can become easy to build the walls of your house in works rather than on Jesus Christ.

When a new believer gets so busy for God, serving in the worship building, but they don't build a solid foundation, then if the building was no longer there, how would they sustain their walk with Christ? If for some reason our world really does get to the point of preachers being imprisoned for their preaching, who will teach the people the Word? What if our world came to the point where we weren't allowed to gather for worship, then how would they grow?

We must be sure our foundation is in Christ and not in the works of a 'Christian Life'. We must be disciples of Jesus Christ. Studying scripture is important! We have The Holy Spirit to teach us and wonderful tools for studying the scriptures. We use a concordance, Bible dictionary, and a reference Bible to help us further our studies. We spend time in prayer and worship and gather with other believers for encouragement in our walk with the Savior. And let us remember that we have the Living Word, which is the real infallible Word of God. Nothing else in this earthly life is infallible but HIM. Many are diligent studious Christians who study furiously in the scriptures and think they have eternal life, but they don't. Do not allow your studying, your copying down of notes, being the good little Scribe, become the replacement of who we are to get to know.

1 Corinthians 3:9-13, "9For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is."
Are you sure you have your foundation right? How are you building your upon your foundation?

Luke 6:47-49, "47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."
