A Lawyer Isn't Our Savior

by Sisterlisa

So many of our brothers and sisters in Christ are in the middle of heated legal battles, including myself. The really horrible thing, to begin with, is the lack of brethren who are willing to come together in love by Matthew 18 to fully establish a matter. Instead they run and hide, thinking no one will know what they've done, but God sees it all. God sees every wicked device to hurt the brethren instead of facing the battle head on by humbling themselves before Christ our Lord. Pride sets in and instead of bowing to God almighty, they crouch like a lion waiting to devour those who they are in opposition with.

I pity the soul of a man or woman who seeks revenge as their escape from facing sin. As I read Psalm 140 this week, I was sickened by the consequences God has in store for those who are out to bring mischief. I grieve for them, because I love them.
Psalm 140: 1Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
   2Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

It is very difficult for me to even believe that a person who claims to be a Christian would imagine mischiefs in their heart against their own brethren. They gather together to war after someone without all the facts and without the initial  following of Matthew 18 as their remedy for conflict resolution.

3They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.
   4Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
   5The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

Those who hide their sin and unforgiveness sharpen their tongues with cruel words of hate instead of lovingly approaching one another to seek reconciliation. Many can testify that they have attempted to meet with those who persecute them, currently and in the past, only to be met with hostile communication. Many have been the victim of lies that are laid out to snare them in sins that they have not committed. Why would they purpose to overthrow another's goings? If they have done wrong, why not come forward and speak to them about it?

   6I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
   7O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
   8Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

God almighty will not allow their devices to prosper. His words of judgment against those who live this way concern me greatly.

 9As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
   10Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
   11Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

If their own mischief is their judgment then we should grieve for them.  They dig themselves a pit and the deeper they dig that hole the more likely they are to never be able to throw you in, because they won't be able to get out to do so. The dirt of their mischief will cover them. They won't be able to toss the dirt out of the hole they are digging for you.

Even though you can speak to several lawyers, they are not your Savior. Christ our Lord is. But He does use lawyers to bring about that justice in which He has ordained the laws of this land to have.

1 Peter 2: 13Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
   14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
   15For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men"

Psalm 140 continued;
12I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.    13Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

"We step into you Christ our Lord. King Jesus, we worship you and enter into the rest that you, as our Strong Tower, provides for us in the middle of the storm that rages and the tumultuous sea that seeks to overthrow our ships, we are firmly anchored in you, our God! We pray for their souls O God. Have mercy when they humble themselves before you. Bring to pass that which you have ordained and that your glory would be shone throughout this land."
