The Three Gospels According to Frank

by Sisterlisa

A blog I subscribe to, that I feel puts some things into a different perspective, is Reimagining the Church by Frank Viola. I find his articles to be healthy for the soul, as he brings up excellent points in re-examining scripture from a relational view point, rather than literally as a doctrine. Please don't be confused or offended, I am trying to put my experience into words. My experience of reading his blog. It helps to stretch the brain outside the box of institutionalized religion. Today he shares his article, The Three Gospels, according to how he perceives them to be written. I found this article to be extremely interesting and thought provoking.

The Apostle Paul, our brother in Christ, said that prophets are subject to the prophets and teachers to the teachers and rightly so. Frank leaves his comment section open and interacts with his readers in a respectful manner, as I believe we all should. I believe it's important for all of us to allow for people to ask questions, it helps us all to grow. Frank doesn't hold his friends back from growing. I'd like to ask that you take some time to go read his article. I like it because it puts a good perspective on legalism and for those who think living in grace means you're abusing it, Frank explains both those 'camps'. I've lived in both camps before and have no desire to go back.

Just as my husband and I were discussing last night, Frank also visits the scriptures, understanding that we need to live in those times, as if we are walking with Jesus. (I'm not speaking on behalf of Frank, this is just what I perceive him as doing.) Studying scripture is not simply a list of facts to memorize and debate among one another as to who has the right interpretation. It's a written account of his life. As you read the Bible, ask God to reveal to you the heart that Jesus had as he spoke those words. And keep in mind that back then, the Apostles didn't have a written New Testament to live by. They relied upon God's Holy Spirit to guide them and teach them His truth. With so many false prophets in the world today, I believe we have entered into a time when we all need to get back to learning as the Apostles did, directly from Holy Spirit himself.

I have tried to put into words how I felt about the article and the viewpoint Frank has, however if I have caused any confusion, simply leave a comment and ask me. For our readers in countries that ban Frank's blog, if you want to read the article, shoot me an email and I'll forward the email subscription copy to your inbox for ya. ;O)

I don't see anything wrong with being challenged in our faith though, to walk closer to God. I agree we are to be neither antinomianist, nor legalist.
