#1 Sin in Christianity Today

A phenomena I have been seeing lately is quite alarming...well..maybe you have noticed it before in some circles, but I have noticed in yet another...the division of just what is and who are 'real' Christians. I'm going to be quite transparent here..are you sure you're ready for this? *This is just as much for me as it is for all of us.

It's quite exhausting to keep seeing and hearing believers of all sorts keep bashing each other for not being a 'real' "Christian". We are ALL guilty of it. I know this for a fact...because we're all human and we all lean into judgmentalism from time to time. That tree is still being feasted on today..people keep thinking they know 'good and evil' and it makes them think they are 'wise like God' but in fact it doesn't. What it DOES do is this...it makes them self righteous. Yes siree folks, that's what our problme is..self righteousness. The single most hideous 'sin' of all time and it has fully infiltrated the Body of Christ. So move on over and make room for everyone else's white coffee cups...yes my friends..all of our cups are full of vomit!

{I did ask you if you were ready for this}

We are self righteous stuck up religious snobs! Every one of us. If you think you aren't, then that's a 'dead' giveaway that you are. What we need in Christainity today is a big fat dose of humility!

How DARE we think and impose such judgments on others. God is the judge, not us. How dare we dismiss a Clavinist, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Pentecostal, Methodist, Nazarene, Jehovah's Witness, Mormon, or even a *GASP* a Universalist as NOT 'Christains'. ack blech* excuse me..sorry. Just gagging a little on the vomit in all the white coffee cups around the table.

Until we deeply and intimately KNOW anyone from any one of these groups we have no right to make such assumptions. And the broad stroke paintbrushes we use are wrongfully labeling people unnecessarily. I have spent the last two years in FULL TIME study of each of these groups and many more than what I listed here. Do you know what I'm finding? That we all have MORE in common than we think we do. But the judgmental division sets people APART and we miss out on some incredibly loving people who truly do love our Lord with all their hearts. We're each on a journey here..and NONE of us have 'doctrine' 100% right all the time so lets all just get OFF our high horses before we're knocked off with a blinding light. Or the coffee cups will spill all over our faces showing us to be in complete humiliation.

Can someone.. ANYONE please toss that tree of knowledge of good and evil into the fire?

O wait a second..it was ALREADY done! Here He is, folks. in BLAZING FIRE, the ONE and only
Christ our Lord!

Yes sireeeBob the Champion REIGNS forever!

But we don't 'really' believe that do we? or do we? If we did, we wouldn't be so divided.

It's perfectly NATURAL to gather with believers with like beliefs for study and worship. And it's totally NATURAL that at some point, someone is bound to disagree and have questions..and it's absolutely natural and totally acceptable and unmistakably permissable that they do so and they have he FULL FREEDOM to leave a place and go find a place that WILL answer their questions. Can't we let each other do that in PEACE?

There are people all over the world that are FED UP with the bickering. So much so that they have publicly proclaimed their total rejection of 'Christianity' so that they CAN go follow Christ. And YES they are STILL believers, they just don't want to have anything to do with the kind of 'Christainity' they are seeing today. It's become a culture instead of a community.

{Christains aren't perfect, they're just forgiven}

Do you know how incredibly snobbish that sounds? Do we even understand the full magnitude of what forgiveness really truly is? I don't think we do. In fact I'm pretty certain we don't. Here's why I think that...because Christians introduce God as a god that doesn't fully forgive.

Let me explain... oh wait..better yet..I'll let our Lord explain it.

Matthew 11a My Father has entrusted everything to me.
Matthew 28: 18 All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
John 3:35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.
John 17:2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
Luke 23:34 Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing

You see...I believe God already forgave the whole world..and even if you don't believe that, maybe you can at least accept that He forgave anyone who calls up His name. We are commanded to forgive.

1 King 8:50 and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them

And some believers thought there was no mercy or grace in the Old Testament..hmm fancy that.

So lets play nice shall we? We don't HAVE to go fellowship with a group if we disagree with them. And we don't have to put ourselves into gatherings where we are being wounded deeply. God does not expect us to partake in communing with a gathering where there is hostility, spiritual abuse, or even cliques that shun you for being different. But we most certainly can stop comparing each other as if we aren't 'really' following Christ. We're all just doing the best we can with what He has allowed us to know at this time. It's a journey my friends...and each journey has bumps in the road and dead ends..but God turns us around and His Spirit is THE Guide. Heaven forbid we think we know how God guides each person's journey. He allowed my life to spiral downhill before I looked up. But He is always with us.

Now then..lets just dump the vomit out of our coffee cups shall we? We know we all have vomit within and HE is the only one who can purify it all. Lets be humble..before we are humiliated.

#1 sin of Christainity today...self righteousness.

I absolutely love this! I can make judgments about what I think is right, according to the scriptures. BUT.. I should not look down upon others because they have not made the same conclusions.

Once, I was praying about being an influence on unbelievers, and I said, Is this what you mean by being a friend to sinners?" And God immediately said, "NO. I am the friend, YOU are the sinner." Humbled me so much.

aww God is so good isn't He? I'm so thankful for when He humbles me. We can go through the 'second death' 'weeping and gnashing of teeth' or we can go through 'without hurt'. Pride is what causes the weeping and gnashing of teeth..pride hates being corrected and it jumps out at others when something like this is said. Your response shows your humility. Love ya Sarah!
